The Huntington - 5/20

Image
This week: electric carmine roses in upright marching formation, calling out "hellooooooo spring!"  Every visit to the Huntington (at least 2x/mo these days) feels like an exclusive front row seat at NYFW and each plant is taking turns showing off its look and twirl. Sometimes these flowers unabashedly jut themselves right in your face flaunting its beauty as you're strolling past. I even find myself rolling my eyes and whispering, "oh cmonnn yeah yeah I know youre beautiful."

Turn it down a notch or two

There is nothing negative or sad about this insight. It is absolutely true and relieving.

Chantry Flats

Still trying to find the summit of Mt Zion at Chantry Flats. Always only end up at sturtevant falls and surrounding area, gah. Today's hike was with mother-daughter duo/roomies, Celia and madamoisEllie. Then went on a quick hike to Runyon with Ellie and Winst. #optoutside

Room For Squares kind of morning

I was obsessed with this album in the 7th grade. Also associated to this memory is the Seattle Mariners (and their 2001 crazy W year), the Athletics' triple aces - Barry zito and mark mulder in particular, being on AOL AIM 24/7, and a warm Bellevue summer with crispy cool mornings.

Take your time. Or someone else will.

Saw it on some beer OOH ad the other day. I interpreted it as, "Life's too short. Don't do anything you don't want to do." There was this book I was reading by a spiritual leader named Osho and he talks about how being selfish is actually good for human kind. If people were more  selfish, we might not be in the predicament we are in now -- a ruthless society full of big egos. Do things you love and not because you should, for the negativity/baggage that comes with doing something involuntarily is way more detrimental and pervasive than not doing it at all even if it's something like volunteering or helping a friend move. If you're happy doing xyz, your love and joy spreads. If you're begrudgingly doing xyz, your negative energy will stink up the place. So leave your 'tude at the door, or rather, don't come.

8 ans plus tard

It's 2017 and it's been almost a decade since Paris. I've been itching to blog again and happen to come across an old one from my time studying abroad in France. Looking back these posts were more photo and verbal diarrhea than anything, but these me-as-a-21-yo insights gave me some sentimental memories that I've long since pushed to the back of my mind. So, rather than start anew, I've decided to simply revamp this one to keep content all in one and to make sure I don't lose it. Now, if only I could ever get my old Posterous account back. That was 3+ years of Cynthia's formative years in written form! TBD on if i'll share this with friends or link to it any of my social outlets. A part of me loves sharing whatever I want without needing to filter for colleagues, diff groups of friends, family, etc., but sometimes you hope someone out there is reading and finding your thoughts interesting.
